FARROW Launches new ADA Certification
John Farrow of FARROW Commercial Construction is excited to announce the launch of their new organization, ADAF Inc. and the new website, ADAFriendly.org. ADAF addresses an industry need as well as John’s personal passion for those with different abilities.
It is their vision to be instrumental in the endeavor to grant access for guests with different abilities. To that end, ADAF offers a sensitivity training program for hospitality professionals and an accessibility rating system with a certification process for industry lodging.
ADAF will act as an educational resource for ADA compliance; as they offer training and a rating system for lodging, within the industry, that is both ADA compliant and friendly.
In the same manner that a 5 star rating indicates quality, ADAF was formed to develop a universally recognized standard for hospitality properties; that are not only ADA compliant but truly ADA Friendly.
Utilizing an objective, standard and uniform rating system, potential employees, owners or guests can quickly recognize a resort, timeshare or hotel/motel that can meet their own accommodation needs.
Hospitality properties that meet the qualifications at different levels can proudly display their Gold Access Keys on websites and literature and will be recognized by ADAF for their contributions to our guests with different abilities.
John has been a long time advocate for the Special Olympics and the ADA community as a whole. For more than 15 years, he has worked with companies to assist them in becoming ADA compliant and giving professional testimony on the subject.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s ADA statistics, 18% of Americans fall under the ADA provisions, with that number steadily increasing. That is almost 20% of your potential employees, owners or guests; that have different abilities, which may require special accommodations.
“Wherever a door is closed to anyone because of a disability, we must work to open it. Wherever any job or home, or means of transportation is unfairly denied because of a disability, we must work to change it. Wherever any barrier stands between you and the full rights and dignity of citizenship, we must work to remove it, in the name of simple decency and simple justice.”
- President George W. Bush, announcing the New Freedom Initiative at the White House, February 1, 2001
As ADAF works toward granting complete access, with the full rights and dignity of citizenship, in the name of simple decency and simple justice, they invite you to join them in making a difference.
